This clinic aims to help you get ready for your tournament day, mental and physical. - On court preparation 1. Drill with your partner - Focus on the X (who covers the middle when dinking), third shot drops, and resetting from the transition zone. 2. Match Simulations - play games against players who are slightly better than you to get comfortable under pressure. - Strategy and Mental Game 1. Consistency wins - resist the urge to go for highlight-reel, low-percentage shots. Focus on making your opponents earn their points. 2. Pre-match warm up - Perform dynamic stretches and light dinking/volleying before your matches. 3. Leverage timeouts - Use timeouts to interrupt opponent momentum or to regroup and calm your nerves. 4. Use of hand signals - when you want to relay a message to your partner, use your hand signals instead of voice (whether to switch places or who to aim ball at) 5. Verbal communication - always assign one of you to use verbal cues to avoid confusion as to take a shot or who takes the shot. If one says, "I go", the other one should be prepared and anticipate what the next shot is going to be. 6. Proper selection of shots - be ready to drive or drop or roll the ball. 7. Court positioning - Momentum should always be forward unless you are returning a lob behind you. 8. Shot placement - anticipate where to aim your next shot thru early detection. *Gear packing - Bring extra paddles, change of clothes, socks, sunscreen if outdoors, KT tape, pain medication, towels, electrolytes, digestible snacks such as bananas, nuts, energy bars or gummy candies to keep your blood sugar stable without weighing you down.
